Cards

 Greeting Cards

For my 2021 Holiday Card, I designed & drew this Mexican Christmas Wreath. I spent Christmas 2019 in Mexico City (CDMX) with my mom & stepdad, and they brought a bunch of the decorations back home with them. I loved the bright colors — not limited to the festive red & green only — and especially this beautiful paper wreath.

So I took a photo of the wreath sitting on the table and used that as reference to illustrate artwork for a greeting card, which I got printed. I’m sending out to my friends, family, and Kickstarter backers. I’ve also offered it to local shops for consignment / wholesale.

Want to commission a greeting card or know a shop that might stock my cards? I’d love to learn more! Let me know what you have in mind.

I’ve also printed greeting cards with my drawings on it to give as gifts — so people have personalized stationery with custom art instead of just a letterhead (though I do love all forms of print materials!). Want to commission custom artwork for a greeting card? I’d love to work with you! Let me know what you have in mind.

Art Cards

In 2020, as I found myself living back in the USA with a more static home base, I bought a pack of 100 watercolor paper cards & envelopes and began painting custom cards in watercolor + gouache for friends and family.

It’s been a great way to get practice in with the materials and try different subjects out. Sometimes I have something specific that I want to paint & then I choose a recipient afterwards, and other times I have someone in mind & pick a subject based on what I think they’d like.

Hoping that the recipients enjoy the artwork and the card helps incentivize me to make something I like, and it also helps the practice feel more purposeful than filling up pages in a sketchbook that will only be forgotten. But knowing that it’s “just” a card that I’ll be sending it away helps me feel less precious in my approach than if it were on paper intended to be “art” and potentially “worth” framing.
